Conference for Community Leaders
Two well-known international speakers came to Uruguay and we took the opportunity to invite them to participate, on Sunday August 17, in a training activity for leaders and volunteer commissions of the Tzedakah Foundation. Other Community institutions were also invited to this activity.
This event was held at Hillel, with the presence of Noam Zion, Director of the Hartman Institute of Jerusalem, who gave a lecture on “Philanthropy / Generosity, solidarity and TZEDAKAH in Jewish life”. Afterwards Bernard Steinberg, Director of Hillel of Harvard University talked about “Community leadership”.

In the words of Jorge Stainfeld, President of Tzedakah Foundation: “The outstanding point of the presentations is the relevant value of TZEDAKAH (from the word TZEDEK = JUSTICE), the most important mitzvah of every Jew.
Solidarity with our brothers, not philanthropy nor charity, are the essential and most important values of BEING JEWISH”.

Our thanks to Hillel Uruguay for providing its premises for this activity
