The Foundation
The mission of Tzedakah Foundation is to support members of the Uruguayan Jewish Community who are in a situation of poverty, by providing basic assistance, promoting and developing social initiatives leading to their reintegration to a life with dignity and in Community.
In 2002 the Joint Distribution Committee requests Dr. Gabriel Kessler to prepare a research on the “Poverty, vulnerability and risk of the Uruguayan Jewish Community”. The results evidenced the immediate need to expand the existing assistential nets.
TZEDAKAH means justice and solidarity, and represents one of the essential values of Judaism. It is the restitution of the right of our fellow-men to live with dignity.
The persons requesting assistance may present their case through our Assistance Office called CIAO. A pesonalized interview with qualified personnel will be completed In an absolutely private space and confidentiality.
